Applications are open to graduate students, research assistants and postdoctoral researchers.

We welcome curious, thoughtful people who are ready to take on challenging research questions. We test ideas through careful experiments and sustained discussion.

Previous research experience is helpful, but we also welcome applicants who are eager to learn, ask good questions and carry out research with care.

Applicants with training in physics, optics, materials science, electronics or a related field are welcome, especially those who enjoy asking questions, thinking independently and working with others.

OPEN POSITIONS

PhD · MSc

Graduate researchers

Students from physics, materials science, electronic engineering, optics, microelectronics, semiconductor science, photonics, chemistry, mechanical engineering and acoustics are welcome to apply.

RA

Research assistants

This role is suited to bachelor’s or master’s graduates who want to gain research experience before doctoral study. Training covers literature review, experimental design, fabrication, measurement, data analysis and scientific writing.

POSTDOC

Postdoctoral researchers

We welcome postdoctoral applicants with a PhD and experience in physics, two-dimensional materials, nanophotonics, semiconductor devices, nanofabrication, low-temperature spectroscopy, quantum optics, ferroic materials or RF devices.

VALUED EXPERIENCE

  • Micro- and nanofabrication, including two-dimensional material preparation
  • Optical spectroscopy at low temperatures, angle-resolved measurements and electrical characterization
  • AFM, PFM, Raman, PL or SHG characterization
  • COMSOL, Sentaurus, Lumerical, MATLAB or Python

Experience with these tools is useful, but not required.

WHAT THE GROUP PROVIDES

  • Training across the research process, from material and device design to measurement, analysis and publication
  • A collaborative research environment with international connections
  • Training in experimental methods, data analysis, scientific writing, presentations and research communication
  • Opportunities to attend conferences, visit partner laboratories, take part in joint training and plan for career development
